Tim, aka Dj Skeme.. has an upbringing that is the epitome of the word diverse.
Being born in Kenya, then growing up between 2 countries and 7 states, various cultures were the foundation of his understanding of the world.
His passions for both music and telling a story were influenced by listening to hip hop djs in Japan while stationed in the military, and listening to NPR news segments.
Podcasting 1st became an interest in 2009 when he and a former collaborator decided to start an online radio show since there was no shows they felt were incorporating underground hip hop and interviews.
That show became 1 of the 1st podcasts in Kansas City and was also implemented into Jacksonville, Fl. After success with the show, the team disbanded to pursue other efforts.
He decided that the niche was still needed for introducing great music, but also could implement deep conversation. Hence the concept behind UrbanKCore.
